Fairhills/KBA Basketball Stadium

Early in 2010, Fairhills High School, in association with the Knox Basketball Association completed a $2 million, state-of-the art Sports Stadium on the school’s property. This impressive building has been designed with two courts, storage rooms and staff room, and is used during the day for PE and Sports classes, and during the evening the courts are used by the Knox Basketball Association. We are now known in the local area as a school that specialises in basketball and volleyball. In association with the day and evening matches, we have introduced the concept of Fairhills/KBA Basketball Master Classes.

Library

The Fairhills Library and Resource Centre is located in the centre of the school and provides a welcoming and collaborative information and learning space for all to use. Staffed by qualified professionals at all times, the library provides a wide range of resources, services and technologies to satisfy the curriculum and recreational needs of students.

During class time, classes and private study students visit the library to research, read and use computers. During lunchtime, students are welcome to study, read from fiction, non-fiction, graphic novel and magazine collections as well as play board/card games with friends.

Library staff work closely with the school’s English and Literacy teachers to support the Fairhills Reading Program for Years 7 and 8 as well as the annual Premier’s Reading Challenge. Trolleys/tubs of books are regularly supplied to the classrooms so reading becomes part of daily classes. Students may borrow up to 4 items from the library for a period of 2 weeks.

Performing Arts Centre

The Performing Arts Centre is connected to the Basketball Stadium and is used for various performances including School Musicals, Dance Contests and Drama performances. The venue is available for hire.
