Parent Payments

Government funding for classroom materials and student resources is basic and generally insufficient to meet the expenses incurred in providing a complete education. Parents/carers are asked to contribute to bulk purchase subjects fees to make up the shortfall.  We recognise that some families find the fees a difficult burden and that it is not always easy to ask for support.  We can offer payment plans that can be arranged after consultation with the Business Manager. Strict confidence is maintained in all cases.

The following answers some of the regularly asked questions about the costs to families in sending your child to a government school in Victoria, and provides further details about the types of payments that schools can request from parents.

Financial Assistance

Fairhills High School will consider hardship arrangements and concessions that can be provided to families experiencing long-term financial hardship or short-term crisis on a confidential, case-by-case basis. The school will provide payment options and information regarding assistance programs and agencies to parents who are experiencing financial hardship.  Parents/carers are invited to phone the Business Manager to confidentially discuss any questions.  For full details, please refer to the Financial Hardship Policy.

Camps Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF)

The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund is an initiative of the State Government. It provides financial assistance to ensure students can fully participate in camps, excursions and school sports.  Families holding a valid means-tested concession card or temporary foster parents are eligible to apply for $225 annually for secondary students. Payments are tied to the eligible student but are made directly to the school.

CSEF eligibility will be subject to the parent/legal guardian’s concession card successfully validating with Centrelink on either the first day of term one or term two.

Year 7 students who are eligible for CSEF can also apply for a uniform voucher.  Details and an application form are included in the Year 7 Welcome Pack.  Parents/carers can then redeem the voucher at our Uniform Shop.
